Different artwork pieces can be so difficult to explain in words that, at times, you can only accept the artist's beauty and ingenuity within your mind. There are so many different thought processes that exist, in that it is incredibly difficult to have a true definition of art since it is an eye-opening experience. However, that is the glory of art! Of course, you have the Google, or dictionary definition, but in real life what matters most is how your art defines you, and your presence in everyday life: how you shape your experiences, memories, and feelings, into a unique piece in which only you will be able to fully understand. I believe art is a culmination of life experiences that I can record, and document. While painting, I do not have to plan out what I am going to do. Instead, my right hand and the brush become unified working together, plastering what my mind desires to release. Painting is a calm way of expressionism, and a way to always come back to add more if one feels the need to do so. In all of my artwork, I see beyond my “mistakes or flaws”. As life always evolves, each time I look at a particular piece, it is never quite done to me, as it is a major sacrifice for the artist to complete the piece as a final point. My artwork flaws are what make the piece authentic, accompanied by vulnerability to share those imperfections even when the viewer may not notice them. As once stated by a Chinese proverb, “a diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfections”. It is those outstanding imperfections that enable the artist to have a voice, without verbally speaking, and distinguish his/her style, whether that be contemporary, modern, or abstract The St. Paul Drama Department prepares for their return to the stage this fall! After being uncertain that they would be able to return to the stage this year due to the pandemic, students of SP drama are elated to partake in a fall production. Entitled Monologue Mashup and created by director Mr. Mazzarella, this performance will consist of an array of monologues performed by each of the actors in the cast. Ranging from dramatic to comedy, from classics such as “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” and “Anne of Green Gables” to contemporary pieces, such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, there is a monologue for everyone in Monologue Mashup! Although the performance may differ from previous shows, it will be just as brilliant. There is more information to come, stay tuned! Congratulations to the cast, listed below! It is the early months of quarantine, and Stephanie Wills (Grade 12), in desperate need of a new pastime, stumbles upon a collection of paints in her household. Suddenly inspired by monochrome murals of celebrities, as well as her own love for abstract portraits, Stephanie puts her artistic skills to the test, and begins illustrating paintings of her favorite icons. It was then that she discovered that she was a natural artist, and it did not take long for her friends and family to take notice. Her inner circle was so impressed that they began purchasing custom pieces from her, and in the blink of an eye, what started as a way to pass time, quickly grew into a business. Creating her own handmade shop on Etsy, StephsDesigns4you, Stephanie has invented the perfect job, as well as an artistic outlet for herself, and she has been having a fun time exploring it. Stephanie describes the process of operating her own shop as rewarding, especially enthusiastic about packaging and shipping customer orders, knowing that they are being delivered to people who have expressed interest in the art that she has created. When asked what she would want future customers to know, Stephanie says “All of the original paintings I make take a lot of time and dedication and it is important to me that I can use my talent to put a smile on someone elses face.” She sure does put in a lot of work. It takes 1-2 days to create a painting for her shop. The effort put into these paintings is incredible, and her art is nothing short of exquisite. Whether you would like to shop for unique decor for your room, or buy a piece to represent your favorite celebrity, look no further than StephsDesigns4you for affordable and quality art.
